Crain Communications, Modern Healthcare's parent organization, has acquired GenomeWeb, an online news organization that covers life sciences business, policy, research and technology developments.
GenomeWeb is based in New York and was founded in 1997. Its mission is to inform scientists, technology professionals and executives in molecular biology research and molecular diagnostics. Its global audience includes biopharmaceutical companies, research universities, biomedical institutes, clinical labs and government laboratories. Advertisers include leading suppliers of research tools, analytical instruments, information technology and molecular diagnostics.

GenomeWeb's leadership team includes Bernadette Toner, chief executive officer, and Greg Anderson, chief operating officer.
