Vizient closed its acquisition of Intermountain Healthcare's group purchasing organization Intalere, the organizations announced Thursday.
Intalere will bolster Vizient's non-acute market share as it expands its equipment and service offerings for home care agencies, physician offices, long-term care facilities and ambulatory surgery centers. Half of Intalere's $6 billion in annual purchasing volume is directed toward the non-acute sector, Vizient CEO Byron Jobe said.
"We are extremely well positioned to help healthcare providers leverage their supply chain as a strategic asset as well as expand our footprint in the non-acute care market," he said in prepared remarks.
Intermountain, which already uses Vizient's cost and quality analytic tools, will use Vizient's group purchasing portfolio. Vizient said the acquisition will allow it to increase its reach to smaller and rural facilities.
Intalere will be fully integrated into the Vizient brand by the end of 2021, executives said.
