Judy Schanel, Cone Health
Two of Cone Health’s long-time senior leaders have announced plans to retire. Judy Schanel, chief operating officer, and Noel Burt, PhD, executive vice president of people and corporate services, have announced plans to retire, likely to be effective sometime early in calendar year 2019. In addition to these planned retirements, Joan Evans, executive vice president of innovation and transformation, will be moving into a more focused role as chief of staff prior to her formal retirement, which will likely occur within two years.
“Judy, Noel and Joan are each outstanding leaders with a deep commitment to our culture, our mission and our team. They are also trusted colleagues and friends, and I value their tenure and contributions tremendously. At the same time, I understand and respect their decisions, knowing the timing is right for these transitions, both personally and professionally,” says Terry Akin, chief executive officer.
“Since these leaders shared their intentions with me, I have been working to develop a new senior leadership structure for Cone Health,” Akin continues. “My goal has been to capitalize on the extraordinary talent we have in this organization, create continuity, and position us to deliver on our strategic plan for the future in order to provide the best possible care and service to the communities we are privileged to serve.”
