Dr. Frankel is a high reliability expert who has assessed and worked with thousands of organizations worldwide. In the first part of his career, he practiced anesthesia for 25 years, during which he held executive positions in the Harvard healthcare systems and where he received grants to research leadership and safety. In the second part of his career he started two companies, most recently Safe & Reliable that was acquired by Vizient in 2022. He has led efforts to transform health systems, large and small, in North America, the NHS UK and Scotland, Hong Kong, and the Gulf Region, all while shepherding innovations in safety such as SCORETM, a high reliability assessment survey taken by about 15% of US healthcare workers; leadership WalkRounds; Global Trigger Tool; and LENSTM High Reliability Visual Management Boards. He is the author of three books and numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Jeffrey Kuhlman, MD

As Chief Quality & Safety Officer for AdventHealth, Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman leads quality, clinical risk, safety, transformation, and HRO efforts for AdventHealth since 2013. In January 2009, Captain Kuhlman was appointed Physician to the President by President Obama, serving until his military retirement in July 2013, completing 30 years of Navy Medicine service and 16 years supporting the White House. Dr. Kuhlman, a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, received his MPH from Johns Hopkins and is triple board certified in Family, Aerospace, and Occupational Medicine. Dr. Kuhlman is an international speaker on healthcare and care of presidents and the author of three books: Transformative Healthcare: A Physician-led Prescription to save Thousands of Lives and Millions of Dollars, Transforming Presidential Healthcare: Ensuring Comprehensive Care for the Commander in Chief amid 21st Century Threats, High Reliability Healthcare: Applying the Secrets of the Nuclear Navy to Save Patient Lives.

Dwayne Keller

Dwayne has over 35 years of experience in executive leadership, with over 15 years in healthcare. He leads business development and oversees delivery of Vizient’s largest, most complex consulting engagements. Dwayne’s executive-level consulting experience includes work with Mayo Clinic, HCA, Vanderbilt and Denver Health, as well as numerous small and medium-sized hospitals. He spent the first 20 years of his career in the manufacturing industry with DuPont (nuclear) and Alcoa (aluminum), two of the safest companies in the world where he experienced high reliability culture and processes. Prior to joining Vizient, Dwayne served as COO of Healthcare Performance Partners, a premier Lean healthcare consulting firm that was acquired by Vizient. He's led a variety of engagements, including Lean transformations, strategy deployment, Lean-led facilities design and focused performance improvement projects like length of stay, clinical documentation improvement and spend management. His breadth of experience and a deep understanding of Lean and high reliability allow Dwayne to coach healthcare executives and senior leadership teams through the high reliability journey.
