Westwood, Meadowbrook, VanAyer, Union City Health, Decatur County Healthcare and Savannah Nursing were previously owned by Franklin, Tennessee-based American Health Communities.
The Ensign Group also said it acquired The Health Center at Research Park in Huntsville, Alabama — its first operation in that state.
The company said six of the nursing homes are owned by CareTrust REIT and a joint venture investor. All are subject to a long-term, triple net master lease with Ensign-affiliated operating companies effective Jan. 1. Under the terms of the lease, Ensign operating companies will pay for all expenses including property taxes, building insurance and maintenance.
The Ensign Group said Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, its captive real estate subsidiary, closed on the purchase of the other three operations on Tuesday. All nine operations will be operated by Ensign-affiliated companies. The Ensign Group did not disclose financial details of the acquisitions.
The nursing homes were among 31 facilities CareTrust REIT and its joint venture partner purchased in October for $500 million.
The Ensign Group operates more than 300 nursing homes and other senior living facilities across 15 states.
