Senior living and skilled nursing home operator The Ensign Group kicked off 2024 with the acquisition of two skilled nursing facilities in Tennessee and Nevada.
The company, one of the nation’s largest independent operators of skilled nursing and senior living facilities, said Monday it acquired TriState Health and Rehabilitation Center, a 116-bed skilled nursing facility in Harrogate, Tennessee, for an undisclosed amount.
The deal marks Ensign's entry into Tennessee and is “a logical extension" of its strategy to expand into the South, Stephens healthcare analyst Scott Fidell said in an email.

In a separate deal, the San Juan Capistrano, California-based company said it purchased Hearthstone Health and Rehabilitation, a 125-bed skilled nursing facility in Sparks, Nevada. The company did not disclose the value of the transaction.
The acquisitions grow Ensign's portfolio to 299 skilled nursing facilities and senior living operations across 14 states and continue its buying binge. Last year, it purchased more than two dozen properties across six states.
The Ensign Group provides a range of post-acute services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy and other rehabilitative services.
