Patina Health rolled out a new program Tuesday that will provide expanded home-based care to Medicare Advantage members.
The Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania-based company said Patina Total Health will provide health assessments, medication management, primary care, urgent care and behavioral health services to older adults in their homes through in-person and telehealth visits. Patina Health is launching the new initiative later this week with a national insurer in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company said in a news release. The company did not disclose the name of the insurer, but hopes to ultimately work with multiple Medicare Advantage plans.

Patina Total Health is designed to help insurers close care gaps for patients who might not receive holistic, age-friendly healthcare during routine visits to primary care providers, said Patina Health CEO Jack Stoddard. He said the service will be available for free to all older adults, including those with chronic conditions, covered under participating Medicare Advantage plans.
“The health plans can use us to target a certain population or they can offer us to everybody as an enhanced benefit,” Stoddard said. “Yes, you want to address those with higher costs and higher needs today, but you also want to address those who are on their way into that group by serving the whole population.”
Patina is among a growing cohort of healthcare companies, including WellBe Senior Medical, CenterWell and HarmonyCares that are capitalizing on the older adult population by partnering with insurers to provide in-home care to Medicare Advantage members.
The company launched in 2021 with $57 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Google Ventures, F-Prime and Viking Global to provide in-home primary care to older adults in parts of Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Patina has partnerships with a number of national and regional insurers, including Humana, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna.
