The Ensign Group has completed the acquisition of five nursing home properties in Texas, the company announced Monday.
The San Juan Capistrano, California-based company said in a news release it completed the acquisitions for undisclosed sums in two separate deals.

The Ensign Group purchased Feb. 1 the real estate and operations of Mesquite Post Acute Care, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that operates under the name Bender Terrace in Lubbock, Texas. The real estate was acquired by The Ensign Group subsidiary Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, the release said.
The company separately acquired the real estate of four other skilled nursing facilities through Standard Bearer on Jan. 31. The properties included Beacon Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Rockwall, Texas; Pleasant Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Waxahachie, Texas; Crestwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wills Point, Texas; and Rowlett Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Rowlett, Texas.
Those facilities have been operated by one of The Ensign Group's affiliated companies for the past five years under two leases with a third-party owner, according to the release. The company said an Ensign Group affiliated operator will continue to manage the facilities under long-term triple net leases with Standard Bearer. Under a triple net lease, the nursing home operator pays all operating expenses related to the property, including property taxes, maintenance fees, insurance and rent.
The Ensign Group has been on a buying spree, closing on the acquisitions of nine nursing homes in Tennessee and Alabama in early January. The company owns more than 300 senior living facilities across 15 states.
