In Episode #8 of Next Up, we speak with Dr. Vivian Pinn, a pathologist who was the only woman and minority student to graduate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1967. She was also the first Black woman to chair an academic pathology department in the country. She served as the first full-time Director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health from 1991-2011 at the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Pinn, a Healthcare Hall of Fame honoree, talks to us about her path to leadership and what she would tell her 40-year-old self about making it into healthcare senior leadership roles.
