Amedisys, a home health, hospice and personal care company, on Wednesday said it had signed a definitive agreement to buy Evolution Health from Envision Healthcare, the company said.
The deal should close within the first six months of this year and will give Amedisys access to the more than 3,300 home health patients Dallas-based Evolution Health serves daily, the company said in a news release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition furthers the company's strategy to add regional home health companies to its portfolio, said Amedisys Chairman and outgoing CEO Paul Kusserow.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Amedisys has 331 home health facilities and will add 15 with the addition of Evolution Health, the company said.
"Amedisys will provide additional scale and resources that will expand our opportunities to care for more patients and in more communities across Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio," Amedisys President and COO Chris Gerard, who will assume the role of CEO in April, said in a news release.
Amediys has expanded its footprint in the home health space through acqusitions like that of VNA or Contessa Health, which allowed the company to provide higher-acuity in-home care and the opening of new loctions across the country.
