In less than two months, the No Surprises Act will take effect. For patients that means fewer concerns over surprise medical bills for out-of-network doctors or hospitals. For providers and payers, the Biden administration rule released on Sept. 30 means insuring patients who don't receive balanced bills either accidentally or intentionally since the rule carries significant penalties.
