VillageMD selected Jim Murray to serve as president and chief operating officer, effective April 1.
Murray is tasked with leading operations, including those of Village Medical, Summit Health and CityMD, for the Walgreens-backed organization, according to a Wednesday news release.

Murray most recently held the positions of chief operating officer and chief transformation officer of health insurance company Centene. He was also the president and chief operating officer of Magellan Health prior to Centene's 2022 acquisition of the behavioral health company.
Before his stints at Centene and Magellan, Murray was the executive vice president and chief operating officer for insurer Humana.
VillageMD, which operates primary care clinics as Village Medical, has announced plans to sell or close dozens of sites—including all locations in Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Nevada—over the past few months as part of parent company Walgreens' $1 billion cost-cutting strategy.
Walgreens is undertaking a strategic review of its businesses, including VillageMD.
