Teladoc Health has hired Claus Jensen as its chief innovation officer, the Purchase, N.Y.-based telehealth giant announced Monday.
As chief innovation officer, Jensen will lead Teladoc's research and development team.
Jensen most recently served as chief digital officer and head of technology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a role he was appointed to in 2019.
He was the New York City-based cancer center's first-ever chief digital officer. Before joining Memorial Sloan Kettering, Jensen had previously worked as chief technology officer and head of architecture at CVS Health and held various technology leadership roles at IBM and Danske Bank.
"With deep experience transforming hospital systems and health plans, Claus is the right leader at the right time to accelerate Teladoc Health's vision of connecting the healthcare experience from hospital to home," said Teladoc CEO Jason Gorevic in a statement.
Teladoc experienced massive growth amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It nearly doubled its full-year revenue last year, posting $1.1 billion in 2020 revenue, up 97.7% from $553.3 million in 2019. In 2020 Teladoc also acquired Livongo, a digital health and chronic disease management company, and InTouch Health, a telehealth company focused on the provider market.
And Teladoc last year joined the ranks of telehealth companies offering virtual primary care services, in which a patient has a regular primary-care physician who they only see via telehealth.
While the company's still not profitable—having reported a $485.1 million net loss for full-year 2020, compared to a net loss of $98.9 million in full-year 2019—Teladoc executives in February said they expect the company's full-year 2021 revenue to be in the range of $1.95 billion to $2 billion, which would represent another near doubling of its revenue.
Teladoc will release its 2021 first-quarter earnings results on Wednesday.
