Orlando Health has chosen Dr. Marshall Denkinger to serve as chief medical information and information technology/clinical engineering innovation officer.
This new role requires Denkinger to be responsible for innovating an information-based approach to healthcare delivery that includes virtual care and IT innovation. One of Denkinger's first responsibilities will be to implement a new Epic electronic health record.
He will lead initiatives to identify, research, pilot and support adoption of new information technology solutions and processes to best enable business and clinical enhancements, according to the not-for-profit system comprised of 13 hospitals and 450 facilities.

Denkinger previously served as chief medical informatics officer for Centura Health in Colorado Springs, Colo. He is a U.S. Army veteran who served during Desert Storm and led as commander for the Army's Health Clinic Hoenfels/Combat Maneuver Training Center in Germany, according to the system.
