Brian Dietz resigned Tuesday as president and CEO of McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois, the hospital said.
Dietz was suspended with pay by the hospital's board Dec. 28 amid an internal investigation into unspecified allegations. The suspension was set to end Feb. 5, but was extended to Tuesday for unspecified reasons.

The investigation was conducted by two board members and legal counsel. The probe is concluded and no law enforcement authorities were involved or contacted, a spokesperson for the 48-bed hospital said.
The spokesperson declined to provide any additional details.
Dietz joined McDonough District Hospital in June 2018 as interim CEO. He became president and CEO in April 2019.
William Murdock, chief financial officer and vice president, was named interim president and CEO in December and will continue to serve in those roles until a permanent replacement is found, the hospital said.
