Joseph Fifer, president and CEO of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, will retire June 1, 2023.
Fifer has held the position for a decade, during which time the association's membership jumped 140% to more than 89,000 members, it said.
According to the group, Fifer led the development of an organizational membership model, which provides education and other benefits to healthcare finance teams. He also introduced international membership and has been a proponent of better price transparency, guidance on patient financials and a consumer-centric revenue cycle, according to the association.
Before joining the association, he spent 12 years at Spectrum Health, which combined with Beaumont Health earlier this year.
The association formed a committee to work with a search firm to find Fifer's successor.
