Encompass Health's CEO of its home health and hospice segment, April Anthony, will step down in mid-June, the company announced Friday.
"Throughout our more than six years working together, April has provided outstanding leadership to the home health and hospice business," Encompass Health CEO Mark Tarr said in a statement. "Together, we have grown this segment's revenue from approximately $400 million to $1.1 billion and substantially increased the geographical footprint of our services. We thank April for her innumerable contributions, which will have a lasting positive impact."
Tarr said the search for a successor is underway.
Anthony said she is proud of what the company has accomplished while she has been head of the home health and hospice segment and said she will help with a "successful transition" over the next few months.
"We have developed a premier network of nurses, therapists, social workers and home health aides across the country and have set a new industry standard for providing high-quality, cost-effective integrated care. With our culture, talented workforce and technology in place to deliver superior clinical outcomes, the division is poised for ongoing success, and now is the right time for me to step aside," Anthony said.
Inpatient rehabilitation hospital and home health operator Encompass Health in December said it was looking at options for its home health and hospice segment. At the time, the company said "a range of options are under consideration," including separating the home health and hospice business through an initial public offering, spin-off, merger or sale.
The board of directors' review remains ongoing, and there is no timetable for its completion, the company said Friday. Encompass Health said it doesn't plan to share further updates until it after approving a change or completing the strategic review.
The Birmingham, Ala.-based company reported net operating revenue of $1.2 billion during the fourth quarter of 2020, up 3% from the previous year. During the third quarter, Encompass experienced a 1% increase in net operating revenue.
Encompass Health operates 138 hospitals, 241 home health locations and 82 hospice locations in 39 states and Puerto Rico.
