A search for a permanent successor for Kent is underway. Alan Wheatley, executive chairman of the board, will be overseeing the leadership transition, a Cano Health spokesperson said Friday. No interim CEO has been named.

Kent guided the organization through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings last year. In August, the company emerged after The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approved a reorganization plan that reduced its debt obligations and provided over $200 million in new capital to support business operations. Cano had initially filed for protection under Chapter 11 in February 2024.
He became interim CEO in June 2023, succeeding Dr. Marlow Hernandez, before permanently taking the helm in August 2023. Kent joined Cano in April 2023 as chief strategy officer.
