Banner Health CEO Peter Fine will retire June 30, the nonprofit health system said Tuesday.
Fine was named president and CEO of Banner in 2000, shortly after Samaritan Health System and Lutheran Health System merged in 1999 to form the Phoenix-based system. Fine, who will resign from the board, plans to serve in an advisory role as CEO emeritus through January 2025, Banner said in a news release.

Amy Perry, Banner president, will succeed Fine as CEO and hold both titles moving forward.
Perry joined Banner as president and chief operating officer in November 2021. Prior to that, she led Morristown, New Jersey-based Atlantic Health's hospital division and was executive vice president of care delivery.
Banner, a $14 billion system, operates 30 acute care hospitals and three rehabilitation hospitals across six states, in addition to an academic medicine partnership with the University of Arizona. Banner also operates an insurance division, urgent care centers, outpatient surgery facilities and home health services.
