Nashville, Tenn.-based health system Ardent Health Services has tapped Martin Bonick as president and CEO, effective August 17.
Bonick replaces Ardent's longtime leader David Vandewater, who retired. The health system's chief operating officer Paul Kappelman is serving as interim president and CEO until Bonick joins the company.
Bonick has been the CEO of Nashville-based anesthesia and pain management services provider PhyMed Healthcare Group for three years. Before that, he was president of division operations at Community Health Systems. He also held various leadership positions at Ardent Health hospitals in the past.
"Marty's deep experience in hospital and clinic operations drive his approach to partnering with medical staff and fostering a culture of patient-centric transparency and teamwork," Mark Sotir, chairman of Ardent's board of directors, said in a statement. "He is a proven leader with a strong track record of driving high-quality patient care, optimizing operations and growing healthcare organizations."
