Mark Sevco has been named president of Allegheny Health Network, the health system arm of Highmark Health.
A spokesperson for Allegheny said James Benedict, who had served as president since March 2023, had left the organization. The spokesperson declined to provide additional details. Benedict joined Allegheny in 2017.
Sevco has served as chief operating officer at Sutter Health since 2023. He will start his role at the end of March, according to a Friday news release.

"As network president, Mark and his team of 23,000 AHN employees will work to advance our Living Health model, supporting the blended payer-provider strategies that will allow Highmark Health to transform care and succeed in a highly competitive industry environment," said Karen Hanlon, chief operating officer for Highmark Health, in the release.
Before joining Sacramento, California-based Sutter Health in 2023, Sevco spent 30 years at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served in various leadership roles.& He also served as president of UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network includes 14 hospitals as well as ambulatory surgery centers, employed physician organizations, home and community-based health services, a research institute and a group purchasing organization. It is a clinical campus for Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, also in Pennsylvania.
