Vlad Kalinichenko, MD, PhD, Phoenix Children's
Vlad Kalinichenko, MD, PhD, recently became director of the Phoenix Children’s Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, and professor of Child Health with tenure. In this role, he will help lead recruitment, provide mentorship, secure grant funding and work to advance scientific inquiry throughout the health system. Previously, he led the Kalinichenko Research Lab at Cincinnati Children’s, focused on finding innovative treatments for life-threatening pulmonary conditions in premature infants. Dr. Kalinichenko, and the team members joining him at Phoenix Children’s, will continue this groundbreaking work. Dr. Kalinichenko will also collaborate with Phoenix Children’s clinicians on research plans for infants with serious respiratory issues. He has more than 20 years of experience in the pulmonary field and is the principal investigator on three RO1 National Institutes of Health-funded research grants and co-principal on another two, totaling more than $2 million. He has also authored more than 120 peer-reviewed articles and is globally renowned for his work.
