It’s about time.
On Oct. 3, the Health and Human Services Department and the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a forever stamp honoring healthcare workers. It’s creative, spelling out “thank you” using various tools of the trade and symbols related to healthcare, like a stethoscope and a caduceus.
Banners and other signs honoring the nation’s healthcare workers started going up across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. Years later, some of those signs remain in clinical settings, perhaps a little faded and tired-looking but still a reminder of how people-centric this industry is.
During an event in Washington, D.C., introducing the stamp, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra noted he liked the idea of something as simple as a stamp to recognize the “unsung heroes” we count on every day. And, he noted, despite technology, we still use the mail.
