SSM Health has agreed to purchase SLUCare Physician Group from Saint Louis University as part of a deeper partnership agreement, the two said Thursday in a press release.
The agreement, once finalized, will make SLUCare and its 600 faculty and medical professionals a dedicated physician division within SSM Health and a partner to its 600 community-based providers. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the summer.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"The integration of SLUCare into SSM Health – St. Louis will create one of the most comprehensive fully integrated academic and community-based physician groups in the region, with more than 1,200 providers," said Dr. Fred P. Pestello, president of Saint Louis University.
The agreement will also invest in Saint Louis University's School of Medicine, giving it more access to clinical trials, according to Dr. Christine Jacobs, dean of the medical school and vice president of medical affairs.
