Sanford Health has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Great Plains Women's Health Center in Williston, North Dakota.
The Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based rural health system said in a Tuesday news release it intends to continue offering reproductive healthcare services at the facility and eventually add primary care and cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics and plastic surgery services.

The acquisition will be effective June 1.
All current Great Plains staff will be offered Sanford positions following the completion of the transaction, the release said.
The health system has made several moves to add services and grow offerings in the wake of a failed merger with Fairview Health Services last year.
In January, it announced plans to expand its surgery center in Bismarck, North Dakota. Construction is slated to start this spring and wrap up in 2025, according to a news release.
In February, it opened a new clinic providing family medicine, pediatrics and other services in Sioux Falls.
Sanford will also break ground this spring on a $200 million integrated senior living project with Good Samaritan Society.
The health system did not respond to requests for financial details regarding the Great Plains Women's Health Center transaction.
