Quest Diagnostics plans to acquire some outreach laboratory assets from University Hospitals.
Quest and the Cleveland-based health system have entered a definitive agreement and expect the deal to close in the fourth quarter pending regulatory approval, the company said in a Wednesday news release. Financial terms were not disclosed.
University Hospitals offers services such as cytology and surgical pathology testing at outreach locations, according to the health system's website.
The definitive agreement includes some laboratory draw locations inside University Hospitals' health centers, a University Hospitals spokesperson said. The spokesperson did not provide more details about which assets would be involved in the transaction.

Outpatient laboratory employees would have the chance to join Quest Diagnostics, assuming the successful completion of pre-employment screenings, the health system spokesperson said.
Quest did not provide details about which assets it planned to acquire.
Last month, Quest announced plans to acquire the majority of Columbus, Ohio-based OhioHealth's outreach testing, including all non-inpatient and non-outpatient lab assets. In June, it said it planned to acquire most of the laboratory assets of Minneapolis-based Allina Health's ambulatory clinic sites. Both transactions are slated to close in the fall, pending regulatory approval.
