Quest Diagnostics plans to acquire the majority of outreach laboratory assets from OhioHealth.
Under the definitive agreement announced Wednesday, Quest will purchase 90% of OhioHealth's outreach testing, which includes all non-inpatient and non-outpatient lab assets. OhioHealth will retain ownership of assets including surgical and oncology specimen testing, a spokesperson for the Columbus, Ohio-based health system said.

The deal comes less than a month after Quest announced its pending acquisition of select lab assets from Minneapolis-based Allina Health, and is part of Quest's strategy to grow through acquisition. Both transactions are expected to close this fall, pending regulatory approval.
Financial details for both deals were not disclosed.
About a dozen jobs would be eliminated as a result of the transaction. Affected employees would be offered other roles within OhioHealth, the spokesperson said. Another 200 of OhioHealth's outreach lab employees would become Quest employees while 75 other employees stay with the health system.
A transaction would not affect OhioHealth's outpatient or inpatient labs, the spokesperson said.
