Novant Health said Monday it is acquiring UCI Medical Affiliates, which includes the urgent care business Doctors Care and Progressive Physical Therapy, from BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
The transaction is expected to close in the fall, Novant said. Financial details were not disclosed.

Columbia, South Carolina-based UCI Medical, acquired by BlueCross BlueShield in 2011, offers nonmedical management and administrative services for Doctors Care and Progressive Physical Therapy, which have 75 locations and nearly 200 providers throughout South Carolina.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Novant signed a definitive agreement July 19 to buy UCI Medical, according to a financial document published Thursday.
Neither BlueCross Blue Shield nor UCI Medical responded to a request for comment.
The acquisition would deepen Novant's presence in South Carolina. Novant operates 19 medical centers and more than 850 other locations across the Carolinas.
In February, Novant closed a $2.4 billion deal with Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare to acquire three South Carolina hospitals and affiliated facilities.
Novant had also planned to acquire two North Carolina hospitals from Franklin, Tennessee-based Community Health Systems this year, but plans fell through after federal regulators sued in January to block the deal.
