New Hyde Park, New York-based Northwell announced plans in February to acquire Nuvance by the end of the year, creating a system with 28 hospitals and more than 1,000 care sites across New York and Connecticut.
Northwell operates 21 hospitals in New York, while Danbury, Connecticut-based Nuvance operates four hospitals in Connecticut and three hospitals in New York.

"This agreement underscores our shared vision to expand and enhance affordable access to healthcare services for patients throughout western Connecticut and the Hudson Valley," Northwell President and CEO Michael Dowling said in a statement Monday.
Nuvance President and CEO Dr. John Murphy said in an interview earlier this year that the deal would help grow the struggling health system's ambulatory footprint and provide additional access to technology.
"With the resources and expertise that Northwell brings to the table, we are confident in our collective ability to strengthen, and eventually expand, the essential services that our Nuvance Health patients rely on today," Murphy said in a statement Monday.
The deal is still subject to regulatory review by the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy and the New York State Department of Health.
