Intermountain Healthcare has struck a deal to add a third-party administrator to its Select Health insurance portfolio.
The Aurora, Colorado-based nonprofit health system UCHealth sold UCHealth Plan Administrators to Salt Lake City-based nonprofit Intermountain Health for an undisclosed amount, Select Health announced Tuesday. The new owner has renamed the asset Simplified Benefits Administrators, according to a news release.
Under UCHealth, the third-party administrator managed employer-sponsored health plans covering 17,000 people in Colorado and Wyoming, the news release said. Select Health claims more than 1 million members in Idaho, Nevada and Utah, and is poised to expand its presence in Colorado.
“As Select Health continues its expansion into the state of Colorado, this new chapter will create further alignment with a large regional health plan and provide more insurance plan options for employers in the region, "Curt Howell, Select Health market president for the Peaks region, said in the news release.
