In-home care provider Help at Home has acquired two New York-based home care companies as part of its strategy to grow in various markets.
Edison Home Health Care and Preferred Home Care of New York offer traditional care through licensed home care service agencies and Medicaid's Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program, which will be incorporated into Help at Home's offerings, the company said Wednesday.
Help at Home declined to disclose terms of the deal.
"The New York market, with a focus on managed care organizations and value-based care, is really an ideal place for us to extend our care coordination model," said Tim O'Rourke, president of Help at Home.
The acquisition, which extend Help at Home's footprint into New York, lays the groundwork for the company's organic growth through scaling and innovation, O'Rourke said.
He said both organizations have a long history of market leadership and strong commitment to caregivers, employees and the client experience.
Together, Edison Home Health Care and Preferred Home Care bring an additional 10,500 clients and 12,000 employees to Help at Home across dozens of counties in New York and Pennsylvania.
Before the acquisition, Chicago-based Help at Home had 170 locations in 12 states, and provides in-home, community-based services to around 52,000 seniors and people with disabilities each month. The organization employs more than 30,000 caregivers.
While increased from 2020, mergers and acquisitions in the home health sector are still below pre-pandemic levels.
