HCA Healthcare continues to increase its free-standing emergency room network following its latest acquisition.
The Houston division of the 184-hospital for-profit system acquired 11 Houston-area emergency departments Friday from SignatureCare Emergency Center. With the acquisition, HCA Houston has 26 free-standing emergency departments. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA recently opened several free-standing emergency departments and plans to build more in Florida and North Carolina. In Florida, HCA opened one in Sanford in September and one in Haines City in June.
For the nine-month period ended Sept. 30, HCA reported net income of $3.64 billion, up from $3.56 billion in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 6.6% to $47.67 billion, and expenses grew 7.2% to $42.3 billion.
