A real estate investment trust with nearly 300 properties throughout the United States announced the acquisition of two skilled nursing facilities.
CareTrust REIT said Thursday it acquired the two nursing homes this month for about $62.1 million.

The names and exact locations of the facilities were not disclosed.
CareTrust added a 125-bed facility in the mid-Atlantic region for approximately $37.7 million and a 134-bed West Coast facility for about $24.5 million in two separate August transactions. The investment trust said in a news release it paid for the properties with cash on hand.
CareTrust did not respond to a request for comment regarding the identity of the facilities or who will operate them.
The company's website, last updated June 30, lists 285 properties in 30 states. Of those, 222 are skilled nursing facilities.
Skilled nursing facility transactions have ramped up this year. CareTrust in April purchased San Diego-based Torrey Pines Senior Living, a skilled nursing facility campus, for $32.3 million.
