Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina closed its acquisition of 55 FastMed locations in North Carolina and named a leader for the urgent care provider.
Jim Moffett will serve as FastMed's CEO, replacing Webster Golinkin. Moffett previously served as president of Livonia, Michigan-based Trinity Health’s Holy Cross Medical Group in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has been a non-controlling minority investor in the Raleigh, North Carolina-based company since 2012. The deal between the nonprofit insurer and FastMed was struck in October.
Last year, FastMed sold 67 locations to either Scottsdale, Arizona-based health system HonorHealth or Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA Healthcare.
FastMed will continue to operate independently, according to the insurer. Facilities included in the deal will accept patients with all kinds of coverage.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
