The judge overseeing Verity Health's bankruptcy case has approved the sale of Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif., and a nearby skilled-nursing facility to AHMC Healthcare.
AHMC will acquire Seton Medical Center and Seton Coastside in Moss Beach for $40 million. Seton Medical Center is licensed for 357 inpatient beds. Seton Coastside offers skilled-nursing care and runs a 24-hour standby emergency department.
"Seton and Seton Coastside are integral to the health and well-being of the communities they have served for many decades," Verity CEO Rich Adcock said in a statement. "We are confident that AHMC will carry forward Seton's legacy and continue to deliver patient-centric, quality health care to our entire community."
AHMC spokesman Eric Tuckman said in a statement that investing in community hospitals is more important than ever with the battle against COVID-19.
Verity declared bankruptcy in 2018. Last week, the El Segundo, Calif.-based health system completed the $135 million sale of St. Vincent Medical Center to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. The Los Angeles hospital is currently operating as a COVID-19 surge facility.
