President Donald Trump is expected to push for new work requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries, but a new report by the Kaiser Family Foundation found most adults covered under the program are already working.
For adults age 19-64 covered by Medicaid only in 2023, 64% worked full- or part-time jobs according to KFF. The report said most of the remaining population would likely qualify for work exemptions due to illness or disability, being a caregiver or attending school. Only a small portion were reported as retired or unable to find work.
