Headspace cuts 13% of staff

Headspace, a digital mental health "unicorn," laid off 13% of its staff.

A spokesperson on Thursday declined to say how many employees were affected. In June 2023 Headspace laid off 181 employees, or 15% of its staff.

Headspace said it would transition to a mix of full-time, part-time and contract therapists.

Headspace offers meditation content, behavioral health coaching, therapy and psychiatry services directly to consumers as well as to employers and health plan customers.  In August, Tom Pickett, chief revenue officer of DoorDash, took over as CEO. Former CEO Russell Glass announced his resignation in March.

Headspace Health was formed when Headspace and Ginger merged in August 2021 in a deal that valued the combined company at $3 billion.
