In a statement, a spokesperson for CarePoint Health, based in Bayonne, New Jersey, said while it filed the WARN notice with the state, no final decisions have been made regarding layoffs and the system is considering various restructuring options as it faces "increasingly daunting financial challenges."
The layoffs would affect 859 employees at Bayonne Medical Center, 843 employees at Christ Hospital in Jersey City and 900 workers at Hoboken University Medical Center, according to the filing. A spokesperson said the system included all employees in the WARN notice because of potential restructuring plans.
None of the three hospitals is at imminent risk of closing, the spokesperson said.
In January, CarePoint Health signed a letter of intent to form a new health system that would include its three New Jersey hospitals and Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus.
