Many Advocate Aurora Health employees will get bonuses this holiday season in recognition of the "remarkable work, commitment and sacrifices" made during the pandemic, CEO Jim Skogsbergh said in a video message to workers.
The bonuses are tiered based on workers' level of patient interaction, with those involved in direct patient care receiving $1,300, those who provide on-site support to clinical staff receiving $800, and those in administration or corporate roles receiving $500 in their Dec. 24 paychecks, Skogsbergh said.
The bonus program totals about $66 million for nearly 69,000 employees, more than 90 percent of the system's workforce, according to an Advocate Aurora spokesman. The bonuses are not tied to the system's financial performance, Skogsbergh said, noting that, like most health care companies, "this is a year that we are off on almost all our numbers" due to the pandemic.
In April, eligible workers got bonuses of up to $300, based on 2019 performance.
"It's not lost on us that there is no bonus amount that can adequately compensate for what you've endured in 2020," Skogsbergh said.
