Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan is closing all its offices in Detroit, Southfield, Lansing and elsewhere in Michigan from Friday through Monday for a complete cleaning and sanitizing after concerns two of its employees contracted the coronavirus, Crain's has learned.
A memo to employees Thursday by Blue Cross CEO Daniel Loepp informed the workforce of the closings.
"The closure will enable us to do a deep cleaning in employee workplaces," Loepp said. "The closure includes the AF Group, Emerging Markets and LifeSecure offices in Michigan."
Loepp said all employees are asked to stay home and will be paid for those days. He referred employees and stakeholders to Blue Cross' blog.
Crain's earlier Thursday reported employees with Blue Cross, DTE Energy Co., Wayne State University and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport had contracted coronavirus.
"Blue Cross closing Michigan offices for 4 days due to COVID-19 cases" originally appeared in Crain's Detroit Business.
