Providence will acquire a Meditech consulting firm, adding to its roster of electronic health record consulting services.
Navin, Haffty & Associates, a nearly 20-year-old private company, on Tuesday announced it had been acquired by Providence Services Group, a group of healthcare technology services firms owned by Renton, Wash.-based Providence.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Navin Haffty will work closely with Engage IT Services, another Meditech consulting firm that Providence purchased in 2013, to offer customers implementation, hosting, service desk, application support, staff augmentation and technical services.
Combined, Navin Haffty and Engage IT Services have more than 300 staff members and have served more than 500 hospital customers, according to the companies.
Providence last summer acquired Bluetree, a consulting firm that specializes in managing EHR systems from Epic Systems Corp. At the time, Providence officials said the acquisition was part of its pursuit of diversified revenue streams and called growing industry demand for EHR optimization services a multibillion-dollar market.
Providence last year set a goal of earning $1 billion in revenue from non-clinical revenue sources—which includes its technology consulting services—by 2023 to support a push for more affordable clinical care.
Mike Butler, Providence's president of strategy and operations, in June of last year told Modern Healthcare he estimated the combination of the health system's three EHR-related subsidiaries Bluetree, Engage and Epic Community Connect—a hosting business which lets other hospitals use Providence's version of Epic—could be a $400 million organization.
