June 24: President Donald Trump plans to issue an executive order asking health insurers and doctors to disclose new details about healthcare costs, the Wall Street Journal reported. The administration’s latest effort at price transparency would direct federal agencies to require providers and payers to disclose information about the negotiated cost of care, according to the report. June 24: Want to weigh in on the CMS’ inpatient prospective payment system changes for fiscal 2020? Comments are due. The latest proposal includes changing the wage index to increase payments for rural hospitals, which could hurt urban hospitals. All in all, inpatient spending is slated to increase by $4.7 billion.
June 25: The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s health subcommittee will meet to discuss four bills to reauthorize programs that affect newborn screening, emergency medical services for children and other health initiatives.
June 26: The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will vote on its massive healthcare reform bill, which includes pay caps for hospitals and air ambulances to curb surprise medical bills.
