Orlando Health, a not-for-profit hospital system, recently partnered with Mastercard to analyze success in several value-based care (VBC) programs across their integrated healthcare delivery system in Central Florida. The partnership utilized Mastercard’s patented Test & Learn® solution and focused on three main areas: Clinical Standardization, Process Enhancements and Patient Connectedness.
As a business model, VBC can improve outcomes in several critical operating areas, quality and patient outcomes, patient experiences, reducing internal costs and generating external value. Orlando Health is applying targeted population health and VBC initiatives across their healthcare system. They regularly pilot and implement, models to cut costs while improving clinical outcomes and patient experiences. Using robust analytics allows Orlando Health to test multiple initiatives and then quickly scale learnings across the network.
This paper explores how to create and quantify value in VBC across four areas:
- Looking for Value
- Identifying Value
- Demonstrating Value
