Nominations close Monday for Modern Healthcare’s Diversity Leaders Awards.
Modern Healthcare seeks to honor the executives working to further equity and inclusion at their organizations and in the industry — whether it’s by strengthening the workforce pipeline, implementing public-facing strategies to combat gaps in services or speaking out against systemic discrimination.
Our Diversity Leaders awards will celebrate a unique class of honorees each year. Anyone previously honored in Modern Healthcare's Top Diversity Leaders or Top Minority Executives program, except as a “Diversity Leader to Watch” or “Minority Executive to Watch,” is ineligible to be recognized as a Diversity Leader for 2024.
The nominees must work in healthcare, including at hospitals, health systems, providers, insurers, associations, government agencies, investment firms, vendors, supplier organizations and patients’ rights groups.
We also will honor the organizations that have put programs in place to advance diversity, equity and inclusion goals. Companies that have been previously honored are eligible to be recognized for the Organizational Award.
Nominations close June 10.
Who is eligible for the award?
Nominees for the individual awards must self-identify as a person of color — which includes being Black/African American, Indigenous, Asian, Latino/Latina/Latinx, Pacific Islander or multiracial — and/or self-identify as LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning or other underrepresented sexual orientation or gender identity).
Diversity Leader nominees must manage a team or otherwise have a leadership role. Rising Star nominees must have held their current role for no longer than three years.
What’s changing with the Diversity Leaders Awards?
We’ve updated the program to recognize a new class of leaders each year.
Why did we make the changes?
The healthcare industry is growing and gaining talent in many areas. We are updating the program to shine the spotlight on a new group of leaders who are dedicated to the goals of advancing equity and inclusion.
What about those who were previously honored?
Modern Healthcare congratulates the individuals who have been recognized in previous years as Top Diversity Leaders, but they are ineligible for nomination. Those who have been honored as a “Diversity Leader to Watch” (now “Rising Star”) are eligible for nomination as a Diversity Leader.
Can an organization win more than once?
Yes. Organizations that have previously been honored are eligible again this year.
How much does a nomination cost?
The nomination fee is $200 to submit a name for consideration. A nomination does not guarantee selection.
How do we select the honorees?
The editors of Modern Healthcare will select the Diversity Leaders and Rising Stars based on eligibility and their accomplishments in the industry.
When will the honorees be announced?
The honorees will be published online and in Modern Healthcare magazine Aug. 12.
