Mayo Clinic is testing a telehealth weight loss offering through its diet program.
The Mayo Clinic Diet Medical Weight Loss Rx platform plans to provide weight loss medications, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists, and video consultations with Boston-based Amwell Medical Group physicians.

The launch adds another name to the list of organizations providing telehealth weight loss treatment and comes as some insurers are adjusting their policies on coverage for weight loss drugs or bariatric surgery.
The Mayo program plans to offer lab testing to verify if medication is necessary, clinical monitoring to help patients during the process, assistance with submitting insurance claims, a six-month support program, six meal plan options and coaching and education tools.
