Dr. Nworah Ayogu has departed Amazon Clinic, the technology giant’s direct-to-consumer telehealth marketplace
Ayogu said in a LinkedIn post on Monday that he has left Amazon Clinic, where he served as general manager and chief medical officer since it launched in November 2022. He is headed to venture capital firm Thrive Capital.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed Ayogu's departure and said the company was grateful for his contributions. Thrive Capital confirmed it hired Ayogu.
Ayogu joined Amazon in April 2020 as the medical director of PillPack, the pharmacy startup that the tech giant bought in June 2018 for $753 million. PillPack evolved into Amazon Pharmacy in November 2020, which is where Ayogu served as chief medical officer for two years.
In November 2022, Amazon launched direct-to-consumer telehealth offering Amazon Clinic in 32 states and tapped Ayogu to lead the product. In August 2023, Amazon Clinic expanded to all 50 states and Washington D.C. Amazon Clinic connects patients with telehealth providers for consultation and treatment for common medical conditions such as urinary tract infections.
The move comes at a challenging time for companies offering telehealth services. Last week, Walmart announced it was closing all of its clinics and its virtual care platform in a sharp reversal of its five-year-old health center strategy.
Ayogu was the founding medical director of a New York City-based digital health company Cityblock Health prior to his arrival at Amazon.
