The Washington, D.C.-headquartered Veterans Health Administration provides care to 9 million enrolled veterans every year through more than 1,300 healthcare facilities.
Leaders have:
- Created VA Immersive, which seeks to advance the clinical rollout of virtual reality and augmented reality tools for use in veterans’ healthcare. More than 1,200 headsets have been deployed through the program for mental health, pain management and rehabilitation, among other use cases.
- As part of VA Immersive, established the VHA XR Network to support field staff at medical centers who are interested in using extended-reality technology and to promote community building and collaboration. The network now encompasses more than 160 VA facilities and upward of 1,900 staff.
- Through VA Immersive, hosted quarterly trainings, provided continuing education credits, hosted Community of Practice calls and executed an annual VA Immersive Summit.
