Guthrie
Sayre , PA
Sayre, Pennsylvania-based Guthrie is a rural integrated health system with five hospitals and a multi-specialty group practice, serving patients across a 9,000-square-mile region in New York and Pennsylvania.
Leaders have:
- Developed a virtual command center hub, known as the Guthrie Pulse Center, to help address labor shortages, higher costs, scarce resources and overwhelmed clinics and emergency departments.
- Through the command center, employed staff members to monitor patients’ fall risk and behavioral health concerns via telehealth across five hospitals. The savings from this program have equated to nearly $8 million per year and reduced nurses’ individual workloads.
- Begun implementing virtual critical care nursing, an electronic intensive care unit, virtual medical nursing, a centralized transfer center and centralized telemetry within the Pulse Center.
