Tim Hingtgen
CEO, Community Health Systems
Since taking over as CEO in 2021, Hingtgen has prioritized care quality at the Franklin, Tennessee-headquartered system. The 69-hospital organization reported a nearly 90% reduction in its serious safety event rate compared with a decade ago. Hingtgen last year steered $467 million in capital investments, including through primary and specialty care, urgent care centers and ambulatory surgical centers — getting services closer to Community Health Systems’ patients. This year saw a new, strategic partnership with Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drug Co. CHS is the first health system to purchase sterile injectable drugs manufactured in the new Cost Plus factory in Texas. Within the company, Hingtgen has directed resources toward retention and recruitment, with CHS repaying more than $18 million in employee student loans and paying upward of $2 million in professional license and service fees.
