Begley has led AONL since 2018. The affiliate of the American Hospital Association — of which Begley is chief nursing officer — is a professional organization for more than 12,000 nurse leaders that works to improve health and healthcare through leadership development, advocacy and other efforts. Under her guidance, AONL and a partner organization recently released the first Quantifying Nurse Manager Impact report, which provides data on how nurse leader behaviors influence nurse retention. In testimony before a congressional subcommittee last year, Begley advocated for legislation to bolster the healthcare workforce.
